Nut-Free Camp Policy
At Let’s Leap, the health and safety of all children in our care is our top priority. To protect those with nut allergies, we have implemented a strict Nut-Free Policy across all our camps. We kindly ask all parents to adhere to this policy and to ensure that children do not bring nut-based products or food into our camp, helping us maintain a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
Prohibited Items
No food items containing nuts of any kind are permitted on site. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Whole or chopped nuts (e.g., peanuts, cashews, almonds)
- Nut spreads (e.g., peanut butter, Nutella, almond butter)
- Food products containing nuts (e.g., cereal bars, cakes, biscuits, or confectionery with nuts)
Nut-Based Ingredients in Other Foods
Some children have severe allergic reactions not only to visible nuts but also to products that contain nut-based oils or ingredients. These can sometimes be found in common foods such as:
- Hummus (which may contain tahini - a sesame seed paste that can trigger nut allergies in some children)
- Pesto pasta (which may contain pine nuts or cashew nuts)
We do understand that some parents are limited in what their children can bring and eat at camp. In such cases, if foods like hummus or pesto pasta are brought in, we will do our best to ensure that any children with nut allergies are seated separately from those eating these items to reduce any risk of cross-contact.
